2018-09-01, Lake Havasu
So my very first trip to Lake Havasu was back in 2005. We camped at Black Meadow Landing in a 5th
wheel, I had no idea how to wakeboard, and the Monterey was brand new. Of course at that point, the boat didn’t
belong to me and I had no idea that I was going to continue to come back to the
lake every summer for the next 15 years.
Somewhere around 2009, my now ex mother-in-law broke two vertebrae on
the bow of the boat due to some shoddy boat driving (not by me). At that point, the 18’ Monterey V-hull was no
long appropriate for her back and I decided to buy the boat so that I could
keep wakeboarding. At that point, I
started throwing my own havasu trips and the shenanigans became more
shenanigan-er…
Since then, Just the Tip has brought over 500 people through
The Channel, Havasu Springs, The Sandbar, Steamboat, Copper Canyon, and
Thompson Bay. She’s put hundreds of
people on a wakeboard, been the viewing place for a dozen 4th of
July fireworks shows, two people in the ER, and a crap load of partiers to
black out city. She’s served 1000’s of
Coors Lights, hundreds of chicken sammiches and avocado wraps and hundreds of
flabongo beer bongs. Just the Tip is
responsible for hundreds of thousands of ear to ear smiles.
The plan for the new boat is temporarily uncertain, but I
will figure it out at some point. Until
then, I’m taking suggestions on a new boat name! Post in the comments…
